it's easy if you think it in this way
Displacement is actually velocity * time
so if we somehow multiply these two quantity we will get displacement
Or rather Disp= integral ( v dt)
and we know integration deals with finding area under graph
so finding area under V vs T graph gives Disp
in our question they have asked for Disp in 5 sec , just find individual area and put + or - accordingly if velocity is + or -
in 3 sec Disp = +12
from 3 to 4 = +2
from 4 to 5 =-2
total Disp = 12 m
