Answer:The treatment plant consists of various treatment units - Coarse, fine screens, detritus tank, aeration tank, secondary clarifier, disinfection. It is proposed to appraise the efficiency of each treatment unit of sewage treatment plant and then efficiency of entire treatment plant. Efficiency of each unit has been calculated considering the quality of influent and effluent. BOD and TSS have been considered for evaluating the quality of influent and effluent. The efficiency of overall treatment plant also has been evaluated. For which, sewage samples were collected and analyzed for major wastewater quality parameters in alternate days for a period of one year (April 2012- March 2013). Flow of sewage through the sewage treatment plant has been also measured to observe the fluctuations. It was found that the performance of individual units and over all treatment plant is satisfactory.
