Methodolgy for applying Guass' s law

step1:- identify the symmetry properties for the charge distribution .

step2:- determine the direction of electric field and surface on which the magnitude of the electric field is constant.

step 3:-decide how many different region of space of the charge distribution determine.

step 4:-for each region of space , choose the Guassian surface such that the flux integral closed surface area and calculate the flux .

step 5:- for each region of space , calculate the charge enclosed in the choice of the Guassian surface for that region.

step 6:- for each region of space , equate the two sides of Guass' s law in the order to find expression for the magnitude of the electric field in that region of space.

step 7:-Graph the magnitude of electric field as the function of the parameter specifying the Guassian surface for all regions of space.

I hope this is helpful. .......
