Eq.wt. = molar mass of element

total positive or negative charge

in its given compound

while keeping total charge on element

keep it is numerical value only and not sign.

for example,

In NaCl for Na (consider charge on N^+ or Cl^-1),

Eq.wt. = molar mass of Na

total positive or negative charge

= 23
