How to find how many moles of an element are in a compound?

I think you use the formula n = m/Mr

where n is the number of moles, m is the mass and Mr is the molar mass.


Eg. How many moles in 50.0g of O2

m = 50.0g

Mr = 16*2 = 32

n = 50/32 = 1.5625 mol
