photoelectric current is depends upon the frequency. increase in intensity means increase in the number of photons or constituent particles. but increase in frequency means increase in the energy possesed by these particles. in the case of visible light, increase in intensity is seen as increase in brightness. increase in frequency is seen as change in colour.
