hello
greater the electronegativity difference more is the ionic character
electronegativity decreases doen a group .
therefore Fluorine is most electronegative
so CaF2 is most ionic

The least ionic among the following is an option (C) CaI2.
- Least ionic means the most covalent compound.
- The covalent character can b determined by Fajan's rule.
- It states that the larger the size of the anion and the smaller the size of the cation larger is the covalent character and the smaller will be the anionic character.
- It also includes the oxidation state, as the higher the oxidation state higher the covalent character will be.
- CaF2, CaBr2 and CaI2 all have the same oxidation state which is +2 and the same cation. so, anion size will be determining factor for the covalent character.
- Out of CaF2, CaBr2 and CaI2, iodine is the largest anion so calcium iodide CaI2 is the most covalent compound and least ionic.
