How to find maxima or minima for x if the derivative of the derivative of the function does not have x in it.
For example, how to find the maxima and minima for
 3{x}^{2} + 2x - 8
Question is about calculus, so don't even think about giving me a stupid answer or simply factorising the equation.

dude to find a Maxima or minima just differentiate the equation once and equate it to 0
in the next step again differentiate the eqn and put the values of x which u got by solving
dy/dx =0
if double differentiation gives negative value for that it is Maxima and positive is minima

jaswanth2k: s its 6 rifht then the value is positive and the value is min
jaswanth2k: youll get only one value during first differentiation
jaswanth2k: the value is a constant right if that constant is positive its the minima but if its negative maxima
