The words 'will , would, shall, should, can, could, may, might, must, ought to, need, dare and used to ' are called MODAL auxiliaries.
1. What are modals?
ABSWER - The auxiliary verb that indicates the mode or manner of action denoted by the principal verb are called 'modals '.
2.Modals cannot be used alone but a special verbs because unlike principal verbs:
< they can form questions .
like - Can I help u ?
< they can make question tags.
like - You shouldn't worry much. Should you?
< they can combine with 'nt ' to form negative.
like - You mustn't tell lies.
3.How we can find them?
ANSWER - Simply, you can see that the words that indicate the mode and manner of action denoted by the principal verb would be a modal .
