If we know the electric configuration of an element,then only we will able to know it's valence electrons
for eg-:
Oxygen
Atomic number=8
Electric configuration=8
Valence electrons-:
Shell K=2
Shell L=6
so,the valence electrons will be 6.
always remember that atomic number is equal to the number of electrons and protons present in that element.
