Step-by-step explanation:

Hi There,

That's a pretty important trick you need to learn for competitive exams enthusiasts. Here below is the trick I learned but this is just for approximation but not exact.

Step 1: Write down the nearest perfect square (should be smaller number than required) to the required number

Step 2: Write the difference of the perfect square and the required number in the numerator separately

Step 3: Enter the double of perfect square in the denominator of the previous fraction

Step 4: Add the perfect square number and the value of the fraction

Step 5: You will end up with the nearest/ closest fraction of the square root

Step 6: Follow me for more such easy Math tricks :D

Example: \sqrt{32} = ?

Step 1: Nearest perfect square is 5 (25 < 32)

Step 2: Difference between 25 and 32 is 7

Step 3: Double to 5 is 10

Step 4: 5 + \frac{7}{10} = 5 + 0.7 = 5.7 (approx.) Actual answer is 5.6568 ~ 5.66 ~ 5.7

Example: \sqrt{82} = ?

Step 1: Nearest perfect square is 9 (81 < 82)

Step 2: Difference between 81 and 82 is 1

Step 3: Double to 9 is 18

Step 4: 9 + \frac{1}{18} = 9 + 0.055 = 9.5 (approx.) Actual answer is 9.055

Example: \sqrt{3} = ?

Step 1: Nearest perfect square is 1 (1 < 3)

Step 2: Difference between 1 and 3 is 2

Step 3: Double to 1 is 2

Step 4: 1 + \frac{2}{2} = 1 + 1 = 2 (approx.) Actual answer is 1.732

But honestly spoken, it is recommended to remember the Square roots till 10.

Only challenge is you should be good at fractions. For that also I have a trick, comment below if you would like to see that.
