If in a poem a non living thing has been given life and if it is personified and given human qualities like anger ,smile etc.... then it is personification

In a poem when a non living thing is given life, emotions, gestures, actions and few qualities which only living things can perform is called personification...
example: The clouds began to smile at me.
We all know clouds do not smile but this is what makes this sentence unique.This is a personification.
