How to find pH when pKa or pKb is given?

If you are given pKa use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to find pH:

pH = pKa + log(conc. of base / conc. of acid)

To convert pKb to pKa or vice versa use the following equation:

pKa x pKb = 1 x 10^-14

And use this equation to convert between pH and pOH:

pH + pOH = 14

for SAWB types of salt pH is7–½pKb–½logC
for WASB types of salt pH is 7+½pKa+½logC
for WASB types of salt pH is 7 +½pKa –½pKb hope it helps you...
