How to find pythagorean triples if one number is given?

square of first number + square of second number = square of the third number

by using the formula 2n , (n^2)-1 , (n^2)+1
where n is a natural number greater than 1.
Two examples are above and also all Pythagorean triplet may not be obtained using this form . For example (5,12,13) is a triplet but we cannot find it ...
