U can find square roots by prime factorisation & long devision , I am explaining you prime factorisation ,
Like , we have to calculate √16 , so we'll do it as ,
2 | 16
2 | 8
2 | 4
2 | 2
| 1
Now make pairs of same numbers , like in this all are 2's so making pairs & write the number only 1 time of the pair , like here we are getting 2 & 2 ,
Just multiply them = 2×2 = 4
so , √16 = 4

You can find square root by the prime factorisation method.
For example: 25
5 | 25
5 | 5
| 1
So,25=5×5.
Now ,you have make a pair of same prime numbers, like 5×5 is one group, and then take one prime number out of it and that is your answer. From 5×5 take one 5 out and then that is your asnwer.
So √25=5
One more example.
400
2 | 400
2 | 200
2 | 100
5 | 50
5 | 10
2 | 2
| 1
400=2×2×2×5×5×2
Like I said, make pairs of same prime numbers together.
So, 400=2×2×2×2×5×5
After making groups, take one prime number out of each group and multiply them.
2×2×5
20
So √400=20
This can be done only in the case of perfect squares, if one number is left out, then simply understand that its square root is in decimals
