hello!
Electron spin or spin quantum number.
it is fourth quantum number.
elecron always fills in first upward direction then in downward direction
it is demoted by for upwards +1/2
and for downward -1/2

Hello friend....
Atom contains sub shell
sub shell have orbitals
and orbitals contain electrons.
Sub shells are s, p, d, f
Orbitals of s is s , p is px, py, and pz and so on.
Each orbital can accommodate only 2 electrons with opposite spin.
The spins of electrons can be +1/2 or -1/2.
It depends on you which one you take as +1/2 or -1/2.
Suppose you take ⬆️(arrow pointing up) as +1/2 then it is for sure that ⬇️(arrow pointing down) as -1/2.
To find the sum of electronic spin, you first need to arrange the electrons in a sub shell following aufbau's principle , Pauli's principle and hund's rule.
Then find the number of electrons with +1/2 spin & -1/2 spin and then just add to get the answer.
Note that the sum of electronic spin of full filled sub shells is always zero.
HOPE THIS HELPS..... :-)
If you couldn't get any part of the answer feel free to ask..... :-)
