It is very easy...

To find group number you have to remember few points .

if the given elements is of P-block then,
to calculate group number add its (ns + np) electrons

if elements is of s-block then you already know that group number of s- blocks
element is 1A and 2A (alkali and alkaline earth metal)
if last ns contains 2 e- then group number is 2A, if ns contains 1e- then group number is 1A
《 here n = outermost orbit》

now, for d- block elements group number is [ns +( n-1)d]

for f-block elements group number just remember that all 28 elements of f-block lies in 3B

NOTE:-

SIMPLE FORMULA to calculate the group number.

18-(higher inert gas atomic number - given atomic number)

if values comes -ve then instead of 18 take 32 in formula.
