How to find the length of diagonal of a square when sides are given?

let us consider a square with side length = a

diagonal = AC

To find length of diagonal we consider the right angles triangle ABC in which angle B = 90°

According to Pythagoras theorem

AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2

AB = BC =a

AC^2= 2a^2

AC= √2 a
