How to find the magnetic field of a bar magnet using compass needle?

keep the magnet at a fixed position. brought the compass near the magnet. the needle of the compass will get deflected due to magnetic field of magnet. take the compass away from bar magnet slowly-slowly. the place where it comes to its normal position is outside the magnetic field of the magnet.
