the median is the middle observation.

if there are 5 observations 12,15,17,19,21. then the median will be the third observation which is 17.

if there are even no. of observations then

the median will be the mean of two observations

if there are 6 observations as 12,15,17,18,19,21, then the median will be the mean of the third and the fourth observation.

Median= 17+18/2=35/2=17.5.
