How to find the smallest 4 digit number divisible by 12?

1,008. Found easily by multiplying the least common factors shared by 12, 28, and 36.

36 is a multiple of 12, therefore all numbers divisble by 36 are divisible by 12.

To be divisible by 36, a number must be divisble by 9 and 4. To be divisible by 28, a number must be divisble by 7 and 4. Although 4 is shared between both divisors we need only multiply it once. When you multiply 4, 7, and 9 you get 252, which is not four digits. To make it four digits, you simply add another 252 until you achieve four digits. Doing this three times yields 1008, the least 4-digit number divisble by 12, 28, and 36.
