Consider the following long division method;

Use the following steps to find the square root of 585225 using the long division method.

1) Pair the digits of the number. Thus, the given number consists of three pairs i.e. 58, 52 and 25.

2) Now, the first pair is 58. So, find the largest square smaller than 58, that is 49(7*7). Subtract 49 from 58, which leaves 9 as the remainder. Thus, 7 forms the first digit of the required square root.

3) Now, bring down the next pair of the digits (52). Use the 7 of the required square root and double it (14). Now find a single digit number, so that 14 'single digit number' times that same 'number' is as large as possible but less than the 952. Thus, 146*6 = 876.  Subtract 876 from 952 leaving the remainder as 76. 6 forms the second digit of the required square root.

4) Similarly, bring down the next pair of the digits (25). Use the 76 of the required square root and double it (152). Now find a single digit number, so that 152 'single digit number' times that same 'number' is as large as possible but less than or equal to 7652. Thus, 1525*5 = 7625.  Subtract 7652 from 7652 leaving the remainder as 0. 5 forms the third digit of the required square root.

Thus, 585225−−−−−−−√=765
