How to find the valency of NH4 Plz give me full explanation​

Explanation:

Ammonia is NH3. Now if you look at nitrogen, it is accepting 3 electrons from 3 hydrogen atoms by a covalent bond. One pair of electron is still left on nitrogen that belongs to the 2s orbital. This pair of electron is what calls for the basic nature of ammonia. Thus it is a lewis base. Now this electron if donated say in the presence of an acid will result in the formation of ammonium ion (NH4) +. Now this gives +1 charge on the molecule and accounts for +1 valency of the molecule.

Ammonium ion has a tetrahedral symmetry.
