when sugar is dissolved in water , the volume does not remain the same . As a soluble material is added to a solvent , its molecules become surrounded by the solvent molecules and the volume increases slightly
so we must note the volume of water before adding sugar - note as x1
calculate the volume after adding the lump of sugar - note as x2
now subtract x2 from x1 = x2-x1
we can get the volume of lump of sugar added
