Where:  

A = assume mean

ui =   $\frac{xi-a}{h}$

∑ = overall frequency  

∑fiui = f1u1 + f2u2 ........fnun.

h = length of the class interval.

∴ui =   $\frac{xi-a}{h}$

The formula for determination of Ui is   $\frac{xi-a}{h}$
