In an atom there r some orbits in which the electron moves.
the number of electrons in the last orbit and the required numbers of electrons to complete it's orbit are valancy

karni9: ur ans is really good . if u don't mine plz verify my ans
karni9: i am karni 9
anglevanshi: sorry but I can't I m not able to do so!!! don't mind
karni9: it 's ok frd

we can find the valancy of element by using simple method.
if the last configuration electron
is above 5 just subtract by 5.

nandinikandoi: It's very simple.
nandinikandoi: Just find the electronic configuration and last will be the valency. If it is less than 5 then it will remain same but if it is 5 aur more than 5 than subtract it by 8 the answer obtained will be the valency. Note:- This trick is only applicable till atomic number 20. Further valency need to be remembered. Many elements show more than 1 valency.
anglevanshi: tysm dear
nandinikandoi: Wlcm
