by finding there outer electronic configuration you cam find
but I use method is that use atomic no. to memorize atomic valancy because there is sequence in it 1,0,-1,-2,-3,-4,0,4,3,2,1,0,-1
and so on

As we know that outermost shell has 8 electrons....
Subtract the no. Of electrons present In outermost shell of that electron from 8
We will get valency
Subtract the no. Of electrons present In outermost shell of that electron from 8
We will get valency
