how to find valency of any element??

the no. of valence electrons of an atom is known as its valence it cannot be morethan 8 and if it is more than 4 it is subtracted from 8.

You can find the valency by its electronic configuration...

for example electronic configuration of lithium is 2,1 so its valency is 1 as it looses his 1 electron
