so atomic no. of argon is 18

its electronic configuration is 2,8,8

since its outermost shell is completely filled

so its valency is 0.

it is an inert gas.

pls mark brainliest

asad15: but M shell has 18 capacity
Draxillus: no here m shell will have 8 becoz outermost shell of an atom has only 8 electron
Draxillus: do u understand

Valency is the combining power of an element, especially as measured by the number of hydrogen atoms it can displace or combine with.

Or more simply, the number of electrons an element needs to accept or donate to complete its octet, i.e , to achieve a complete outermost shell and acquire a noble gas configuration.

But argon is a noble gas and hence has a complete outermost shell. Thus it needs to accept or donate 0 electron to complete its octet. Hence the valency of argon is 0.
