how to find valency of chloride?

Atomic number of chlorine= 17
Therfore it's electronic configuration is 2 8 7
So it's valency becomes 1 as it gains 1 electron to be stable.

Hi friend,

See, atomic number of chlorine is 17.And if we see it's electronic configuration is-
K shell-2
L shell-8
M shell-7

Then the valency 1 as one electron is gained to complete the octet.
