How to find whether a compound is paramagnetic and diamagnetic?

This process can be broken into these steps:

Write down the electron configuration.
Draw the valence orbitals.
Identify if unpaired electrons exist.
Determine whether the substance is paramagnetic or diamagnetic.

If a molecule has odd number of valence electrons, it is paramagnetic whereas molecules having even number of valence electrons are diamagnetic.
