How to find whether a solution is amphoteric or not?

Answer: to find if the given solution is amphoteric in nature you should first put a bit amount of acid to see whether water and the respective salt is formed or not and then further take a fresh solution of the amphoteric solution and reacted with a base to find if water and respective salt is produced or not . If in both the cases respective salt and water are formed then the given solution is amphoteric in nature
