if you pass current in a wire it will generate electromagnetic waves around it. Because according to maxwell " whenever a charged particle moves it generates electromagnetic waves around it".

Hope it will help you.

susheel289: Electromagnetic waves are electric and magnetic fields traveling through empty space with the speed of light c. Electromagnetic waves are electric and magnetic fields traveling through empty space with the speed of light c. A charged particle oscillating about an equilibrium position is an accelerating charged particle. If its frequency of oscillation is f, then it produces an electromagnetic wave with frequency f. and are used in modern technology—AM and FM radio, cordless and cellular phones, garage door openers, wireless networks, , microwave ovens, etc.
