how to get coordination no of a compound and give the eg. with a compund having formula CD3

Coordination number of a compound represents the number of elements that are surrounding the central atom.


In your example CD3; if C is the central atom then, 3 atoms of D are surrounding it, hence the coordination number will be 3.
