When ethane is reacted with bromine in presence of AlBr₃,ethyl bromide is obtained.

CH₃-CH₃ + Br₂—-AlBr₃—> CH₃-CH₂-Br + HBr

hope the answer is correct!

Ethyl bromide is a colourless, sweet smelling, non-flammable and toxic liquid.

Ethylene can be produced from Ethyl bromide by using

(i) Dehalogenation in case of Ethylene dibromide.

(ii) Dehydrohalogenation in case of Ethylene bromide.

Dehalogenation is the method of removal of halogen.

Dehydrohalogenation is the method of removal of hydrogen and halogen.
