hey there!
_____________________

✓Their will be either Addition of oxygen in an element or removal of hydrogen.

✓ Let's say Copper is reacted with oxygen to form copper oxide.

In the this reaction:
Cu + O2 -> CuO

Since oxygen is added, it is an oxidation reaction.

Similarly, if hydrogen is reduced from a compound, it is then called reduction reaction.

✓ Both the reactions are together called REDOX reactions

✓ You can use this identification for a redox reaction.

I hope this helps

masteromri: I don't understand. Can you please make it more clear
masteromri: For eg: Find whether this reaction is a redox: H2 + Cl2=2HCl
masteromri: How can i find that?
masteromri: Thanks Man, you are an angel

Oxidation:-
Addition of oxygen
Removal of hydrogen
Increase in oxidation number
Loosing of electron
Addition of electronegative element

Reduction :-
opposite to all the above points

masteromri: Find whether this reaction is a redox: H2 + Cl2=2HCl
masteromri: Please reply
Masteratom63: reduction reaction
Masteratom63: oxidation does not takes place
Masteratom63: nope sry i calculated and its redox Rn
Masteratom63: hydrogen oxidize with +1 and chlorine reduce with -1
