1.count the no of carbons.(count in a way u get maximum no of carbon) and number each carbon.
2.1c-myth 2c-eth 3c-prop......ect are the respective prefix
3.look for funtional group , add the suffix: ol for alcohol,al for aldehyde, oic acid for carboxylic acid etc.
4.numbering of carbon should be such that functional group gets the least numbering.
5.look for double or triple bond if any,add suffix -ene or -yne respectively.
6.try naming compound,only practice can make it easy.

iupac names consists of four parts -
halogens - chlorine (chloro)
                  bromine(bromo)
prefix-meth(one organic compound)
            eth(two organic compounds)
            prop(three)
            but(four)
            pent(five)
            hex( six)
            and so on ..
suffix - ane(single bond)
           ene(double bond)
           yne(triple bond)

and ,
           alcohol (ol)-oh
           aldehyde (al) -cho
           ketone(one) =o
           carboxylic acid(oic acid) -ooh

for ex -ch4(methane)
ch3cooh(ethanoic acid)
ch3ch2oh(ethanol)
