If you cannot simplify a number just to remove a square root then it is a surd

A surd is an irrational number which includes the square root of a positive number which is not a perfect square. A surd can be a monomial or a binomial.√a is a monomial surd where ‘a’ is a positive number which is not a perfect square. c + √d, is a binomial surd, where ‘d’ is a positive number which is not a perfect square.
