You have to do the electronic configuration of the given number of electrons. Fully filled subshells are most stable and half filled are also stable but less than full. For example:
1. For s subshell s² are the most stable(1s²,2s²....) and s¹ is also stable.
2. For p subshell p6 are the most stable(2p6, 3p6....) and p3 is also stable.
3. For d subshell d10 is most stable and then d5.
4. For f subshell f14 is most stable and then f7.
