How to identify which is "acid"and which is "base"​

To identify whether the substance is acid or base it can be done by following :-

• Using Litmus paper or natural indicator.
• By their taste if the substance is sour in taste than it is acid and if it is bitter than it is base.
• Checking pH value if the pH value is more than 7 than it is basic in nature if the pH value if less than 7 than it is acidic.
• Acid donate Hydrogen ion whereas Bases donate Hydroxide ion.
