Production activities in a village other than agriculture are termed as non-farming activities. Activities like Dairy, small-scale industries, business, transport sectors etc., are part of non-farming activities.

Only 25 per cent of the population is involved in non-farming production activities.

People must be encouraged to engage in non-farming activities.

Efforts that can be made to increase non-farming production activities are:

1. Non-farming activities require less capital. Providing financial assistance to mobilise the required capital through loans at low rate of interest is one way to bring more people to non-farming activities.

2. Expansion of the market to buy and sell goods and services.

3. Connectivity of villages to towns should be ensured.

4. Means of transport like good roads, communication like telephone should be made available to bring more people under non-farming activities.
