Whenever we need to find the LCM, there we need to find the greatest number, so whenever you think that any greatest number for any large value then the given numbers, is to be find out we need to take LCM .

But when we have to find any value which is smaller than the given numbers then we have to find HCF .

Now this trick will work for most of the questions. See whenever some values are given and the value that you have to calculate is bigger than these numbers, then it is a question of LCM.

Similarly, when the value to be calculated is smaller than the given values, then it is a question of HCF.
