Boron is extracted mainly from the ores kernite (its chief ore ) and borax.Refine borax (Na2B4O7 x 10H20) from its ore using mechanical means. Produce boron commercially by reacting the boric oxide produced.It was also used to melt the ores of metals and to isolate the metals from those ores.It has a small size and high ionization energy. Elemental boron in the form of dark brown powder is obtained either by reduction of boric oxide with highly electropositive metals like K, Mg, Al, Na, etc. in the absence of air and boron halides with hydrogen at high temperature eg. Heat B2O3 + 6K ————→ 2B + 3K2O 1270 K 2BCl3 + 3H2 ————→ 2B + 6HCl.By thermal decomposition of boron triiodide over red hot tungsten filament and boron hydrides for example, W, heat Heat 2BI3 ————→ 2B + 3I2; B2H6 ————→ 2B + 3H2

Boron is very reactive in nature.it is difficult to isolate.
process of getting boron is:-
1.)Refine Borex()
2.) react it with sulpuric acid(H2SO4) to yield Boric Acid.
3.)then heat it to get boric oxide(B2O3).
4.) react boric oxide with magnesium to get boron.
