Answer:

Our holy prophet said that cleanliness is half faith. Therefore, Islam lays great emphasis on cleanliness. General, people pay particular heed to keep their bodies, clothes, houses and offices clean, But they are neglectful of keeping their cities and towns clean. They do not believe that it is their duty to keep their cities clean. Rather they unknowingly contribute a lot towards making their cities dirty. For example, they eat something in the park and leave the peels and other such things there. They suppose that it is the responsibility of the city administration to keep the cities clean. Some people throw the garbage of their houses out in the street. This is an inapt attitude that must be discouraged. We should be sensible and responsible citizens. We should make mindful efforts to keep the cities clean. We should even persuade others to contribute on this end.

Answer:

Here are 6 ways we can keep our town clean:

1) Reusable water bottles

Single-use plastic water bottles are one of the biggest contributors to landfill and also take three times as much water to produce as each bottle can contain! Not only does plastic have a vast negative impact on the environment, they also require a huge amount of oil to produce. Investing in a good quality reusable water bottle is a no brainer.

2) Reusable bags

Just like plastic water bottles, single-use plastic bags are also destructive for the environment. Australia has realised this now, outlawing the distribution of single-use plastic bags, however they are unfortunately still widely used. Bringing your own reusable bag to the grocery shop is slowly becoming the norm. Let’s speed up this process, be vigilant and become completely plastic bag free!

3) Recycle

This is another obvious suggestion that can’t be left unsaid. Recycling has come a long way in the last 20 years, having increased our household recycling efforts from a shocking 15 percent to 95 percent! However, there is still more that we can do. With a growing population, the world’s waste problems are only going to increase, so we need to continually find new, innovative ways to deal with our waste.

4) Use rechargeable batteries

Batteries are one of the most commonly thrown away electronic items that find their way into landfill. Using rechargeable batteries is a simple, cost effective way of cutting down on waste. While they may initially be more expensive to buy, they are much cheaper in the long run and have greater positive impact on our environment.

5) Buying in bulk uses less plastic

Plastic is still used in a huge amount of product packages today. As you buy larger amounts of goods, the amount of plastic used per unit of weight, decreases. For example, buying five, one-kilogram bags of rice will use more plastic as opposed to one five-kilogram bag of rice. An even better alternative is to buy goods that don’t use plastic packaging or goods that allow you to bring your own container and pay by weight.

6) Carpool

Living in regional Australia means we will often have to travel long distances. Carpooling not only means less petrol is used overall, but also means you are saving money and creates opportunities to hang out with friends. Another bonus is that less car bays are required when you reach your destination.
