How to know if an element is diatomic or monatomic?

diatomic means when two molecules are reacting like h2,cl2
mono atomic means when only 1 molecule is reacting like all noble gases

Atomicity is the number of atoms constituting a molecule.
If the number of atoms is 2 it is said to be diatomic
If the number of atoms is 1 it is said to be monoatomic.
