how to know the product the reactants are given

aishwaryamore: ok
rincy2722: Firstly, I assume your question is missing 'when'- how to know the products 'when' the reactants are given
rincy2722: The first step is to try to identify type of reaction invovled, is usually the most difficult. The primary reaction types students encounter are displacement (double displacement), acid-base and combustion
rincy2722: they are easily identified if the tell-tale signs are known.
rincy2722: ask your teacher about the signs... He/she will be able to tell you what they are face-to-face, in a way you understand, than reading it from here...
rincy2722: it is typically difficult to predict the products in a chemical reaction. With practice, however, the process becomes progressively easier.
rincy2722: ~The end~
rincy2722: ARGH! it appeared.... the 'answer'... so frustrating...
kush656: thanks
rincy2722: sure(^.^)

Firstly you should be able to identify the type of reaction involved which is usually the difficult task. For a student the primary reactions include- displacement (double diplacement ), acid-base(neutralization), combustion(burning in the presence of oxygen).

it is easier if you already know the tell-tale signs... I assume you already know what they are... if not sure ask your instructor about them.

Hope this helps!!
