electronegativity is the ability to attract electron

we know through the element electron configuration

if we go down the group in perodic table based then the electronegativity decreases because no. of shells and velence electron same increases

if we go left to right in periodic table then the electronegativity increases

because no of shells same and valence electron increases and decreases and also no. of proton increases
