Yes,we most of us living in the cities can understand to some extent (varies). However, a majority of the rural Bengal remains untouched by Hindi, so I doubt it.
The two main problems which we face are:
The base sound, which is ‘a/u’ as in ‘uncle’ for Hindi. In Bangla, it is ‘a/o’ as in ‘hot’
The second one is more hillarious, which is gender. Bangla is a gender neutral language, and in Hindi, you assign gender for the non-living things as well! The worst part: No specific rules (there may be some rules, but I doubt the number of exceptions!)
