It doesn’t calculate percentage, it only provides you with a pass certificate on certain criteria.

English + Best four marks are counted.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology is considered one. Same is the case with History/Civics and Geography.

The school calculates and displays the percentage on the same above mentioned criteria. Incase you are weak at HCG, you may leave it. I personally never found HCG as a scoring subject. Board checking for HCG is relatively strict.

If you are planning to study HCG then, go through the syllabus mentioned before every chapter and strike out the parts from the chapter which aren’t mentioned in the syllabus.

Study to gain marks, not knowledge. Yupe, I am telling that from my own personal experience, I scored 83 in History/ Civics because I ‘wasted’ a lot of time to have command over Civics’ chapters. Those who scored 95+, don’t even remember the five kinds of prerogative writs.

PS. I scored a decent score of 94.8% in ICSE board exam and HCG wasn’t counted in my best five subjects.
