Before learning the dimensional formulae you need to learn the meaning of the term and its formula like
velocity - displacement by time
displacement means length in general

so length by time
according to dimensions we take MLT
M- mass
L - length
T - Time
We don't have mass in velocity
so M-0
we have 1length so
L-1
we have time and its inverse in position so
T = -1
